To tithe... or not to tithe... that is the question???

IS THE TITHE A SCAM OR ARE YOU ACTUALLY GIVING YOUR MONEY TO GOD?

(HEBREWS 7:5) And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

ARE YOU GIVING TITHES ACCORDING TO THE LAW AND ARE YOU LIVING UNDER THE LAW?

IF YOU LIVE UNDER THE LAW, THEN YOU ARE BOUND BY THE LAW, BECAUSE THE LAW IS NOT OF FAITH, AND IF YOU ARE PAYING TITHES ACCORDING TO THE LAW, THEN YOU ARE BOUND TO THE PENALTIES OF THE LAW, BECAUSE MEN GAVE TITHES ACCORDING TO THE LAW!

(GALATIANS 2:16) Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of JESUS CHRIST, even we have believed in JESUS CHRIST, that we might be justified by the faith of CHRIST JESUS, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

(GALATIANS 3:11-14) But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that does the law shall live in the law. CHRIST JESUS has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through JESUS CHRIST; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

(MALACHI 3:8-9) Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed me. But you say, Wherein have we robbed you? In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse: for you have robbed me, even this whole nation.

GOD DOES NOT WANT YOUR MONEY! WHAT GOOD IS YOUR MONEY TO GOD, IF GOD DOES NOT HAVE YOUR LIFE? GOD WANT'S YOUR WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE. HE WANTS YOU TO SERVE HIM WITH YOUR WHOLE LIFE; NOT JUST 10% OF IT!

(Luke 14:33) So you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own.

(HEBREWS 10:5-10) Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; 6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. 7 Then I said, 'Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—I have come to do your will, my God.'"8 First he said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them"—though they were offered in accordance with the law.9 Then he said, "Here I am, I have come to do your will." He sets aside the first to establish the second.10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

(Matthew 16:24-25) Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.

I WANT TO POSE THESE FINAL QUESTIONS. IS TITHING A MINIMUM REQUIREMENT? SHOULD WE FOCUS ON 10%, OR SHOULD OUR GOAL BE MORE? BY READING JESUS' COMMENTS DO YOU GET THE FEELING THAT HE EXPECTED MUCH MORE OF US THAN JUST A TENTH OF OUR TIME/MONEY/SACRIFICE/LIFE?

I REALIZE THAT THIS ISN'T WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR, THEY WANT TO HEAR, "NO, YOU DON'T HAVE TO TITHE, YOU CAN GIVE LESS". WHEN JESUS IS SAYING SOMETHING MUCH DIFFERENT, HE'S SAYING, "NO YOU DON'T HAVE TO TITHE, YOU GET TO GIVE MUCH MORE!"

  1. Agreed, tithing 10% is nice, but when people say that you are stealing from God if you dont give him his 10% they are completely and utterly wrong. EVERYTHING that you have is His. If you arent praying and seeking God about everywhere your money goes then you havent given your life over to his direction and command. God LOVES you, and you LOVE your money, and you can tell where your heart is by where you spend your money. Tithing according to the law is backwards. you cant make your heart be where it should by giving, straighten out your heart and your money will follow.
